Preventive Care
A pediatric dentist focuses on preventative care. Growing Smiles offers oral examinations, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants (coatings to protect healthy teeth), x-rays, oral hygiene instructions, nutrition advice, and mouth guards (to help prevent sports injuries). By providing a dental care program to minimize tooth decay and cavities, we aim to give you and your child the tools to practice good oral hygiene habits that will last a lifetime.
At Growing Smiles, preventive care goes beyond the technical dental care of cleanings and other preventive tooth maintenance. Our staff also can provide you with information about nutrition at each stage of your child’s development. They can discuss what liquids should and should not be poured into a baby’s bottle and how to break the thumb-sucking or pacifier-sucking habit. Our dentists and hygienists are trained to be a resource for you, so if you need more information or don’t understand a procedure—just ask!
